Abstract By studying the new plate of The Collection of Bamboo Slips Unearthed in Chu During the
Warring States Period (《楚地出土战国简册合集》),we fi nd two problems about character structure
that have not been noticed. It was believed that the component 勹 of the character 凫 in the bamboo
slips of Marquis Yi of Zeng's tomb did not intersect with other components. But in the new plate, some
strokes are used jointly by the component 隹 and the component 勹 , which can be related to and used
as explanation of the characters with the component 凫 in Baoshan bamboo slips .At the same time, in
the new plate, some strokes of the character 凫 of Wangshan bamboo slips are also used jointly. In the
bamboo slips of Marquis Yi of Zeng's tomb, there is a character with the component 兕 , which could
not be recognized in the past. Compared with the new plate and the structure of 兕 in ancient characters,
it is reasonable to infer that this is the character 兕 .
