The Textual Research on Enuo ( 婀娜 )

Abstract  
    On forms, the word enuo ( 婀 娜 ) was developed from enuo ( 阿 那 )being added the structural part ( 女 ), using feminine effeminate beauteousness feature to highlight the meaning of enuo ( 婀娜 ). In addition to enuo ( 阿那 ), it also has other different forms such as enuo ( 妸娜 ), enuo ( 娿娜 ), nuoe ( 娜 婀 ), etc. In sound aspect, the ancient pronunciation of enuo ( 婀 娜 )is falling-rising tone & falling-rising tone, and the current pronunciation of enuo ( 婀娜 ) is the result of phonetic evolution. From the perspective of lexical meaning, enuo ( 婀娜 ) is not a single-morpheme word but a synonym combination. The meanings of enuo ( 婀娜 ) had made great development from Wei-Jin Dynasties to Tang-Song Periods, while during the Ming and Qing dynasties, the meaning of enuo ( 婀娜 )was identified ultimately as its meaning had been transferred from the description of scenery to the description of feminine morbidezza.
