Abstract
Chinese characters have had many names during the development process of Chinese culture, some of them did not need to add modifiers before the late Eastern Han Dynasty, while some names with modififiers in front of them had appeared in succession in order to distinguish with other characters after the late Eastern Han Dynasty, and they were the products of cultural exchanges between the Han and other ethnic groups. Hanzi ( 汉字 ) has won the final victory among the names of Chinese characters and has became the most commonly used one nowadays.
