Abstract

It is a new academic field of oracle research to study the relations between structural form and semantic meaning of Oracle Bone Inscriptions. This paper aims to clarify the combination form and semantic orientation of the sentences of the two-section inquiry inscriptions and symmetry inscriptions in Oracle Bone Inscriptions, and discusses the meanings of positive-and-negative symmetry oracle inscriptions which have two forms, positive plus positive and negative plus negative, thereby pointing out the rather obvious corresponding relations between their forms and meanings.
